Question 1

Does BuyMyTEK match offers from other trade-in companies?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in many cases. Send us a current offer from a reputable trade-in company, and we will review it. The competing offer must cover the same model, specifications, condition, quantity, and included accessories. Shipping charges, promotional bonuses, and other conditions must also be comparable. Offer matches are reviewed individually and are not guaranteed.

Question 2

Will BuyMyTEK purchase a broken laptop?

Accepted Answer

Certain damaged laptops may still qualify for manual review. The laptop must be free of liquid damage and able to power on and complete its initial startup test, commonly called POST. Laptops with damaged screens, worn batteries, broken keyboards, damaged cases, or other replaceable components may still have value for parts or donor boards. Describe the condition accurately when requesting a review.

Question 3

How long is my offer valid?

Accepted Answer

Standard quotes and custom offers that include a response deadline are generally valid for seven calendar days from issuance unless the offer states otherwise. Instant catalog pricing can change until a trade-in is submitted. If a deadline passes before you respond, BuyMyTEK may need to review current pricing again.

Question 4

How can I trust BuyMyTEK with my trade-in?

Accepted Answer

Trust and transparency are central to the seller agreement. We encourage sellers to photograph their equipment, serial numbers, condition, and packaging before shipment. Secure Seller Hub access lets you follow shipping, delivery, inspection, review, and recorded payment status. If inspection changes an offer, BuyMyTEK explains the reason and lets the seller review the outcome. You can also message the BuyMyTEK team through the submitted trade-in.

Question 5

How long has BuyMyTEK been in business?

Accepted Answer

BuyMyTEK’s roots go back to 2018, when the business that preceded the online platform began helping local organizations responsibly retire IT assets and protect sensitive data. As its procurement capabilities expanded, BuyMyTEK developed into a dedicated online trade-in platform serving sellers beyond the local market.

Question 6

What is the best way to pack my hardware if I do not have anti-static packaging?

Accepted Answer

Contact BuyMyTEK before shipping, and we can recommend the safest packaging method for your equipment. Depending on the item and availability, an anti-static shipping kit may be available upon request. Do not place exposed components directly against ordinary plastic, loose packing material, or conductive surfaces. Follow the packaging recommendation and confirmed box dimensions shown with your trade-in.

Question 7

What are TEKDEALS and Seller Loyalty Points?

Accepted Answer

TEKDEALS is BuyMyTEK’s planned area for discounted products and is currently marked Coming Soon. Seller Loyalty Points may be earned through eligible trade-ins, promotions, or other qualifying activity and are intended for eligible future TEKDEALS offers. Availability and restrictions will be displayed with the applicable offer. Points are not represented as cash.

Question 8

Is shipping free?

Accepted Answer

Standard instant trade-ins must meet the $50 minimum trade-in amount. BuyMyTEK provides prepaid shipping for qualifying trade-ins that meet the current shipping minimum, and the offer summary shows whether prepaid shipping has been unlocked. Packaging costs, optional services, unusually large shipments, and return shipping after a declined adjusted offer may be handled differently under the accepted terms.

Question 9

What happens if my hardware does not match the submitted description?

Accepted Answer

Every trade-in is inspected after arrival. If the model, condition, functionality, included components, or other material details differ from the submission, BuyMyTEK may issue an adjusted offer with an explanation. The seller can review that outcome before proceeding. Return-shipping responsibility follows the agreement accepted during submission. If BuyMyTEK made the mistake or rejects an accurately represented item, BuyMyTEK covers return shipping.

Question 10

When will I be paid?

Accepted Answer

Payment is not issued before inspection. After the package arrives, BuyMyTEK verifies the hardware and confirms the final offer. After final inspection approval or acceptance of a final adjusted offer, required seller verification and payout instructions, and resolution of legitimate holds, BuyMyTEK initiates an approved payout within 24 hours. Initiation does not mean a bank or future payment provider will make funds available within 24 hours. Selecting a payout preference does not issue a payment, and BuyMyTEK does not currently collect banking details during the quote process.

Question 11

Should I erase my personal data before shipping?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Back up anything you want to keep, sign out of your accounts, remove activation locks, and securely erase personal data before shipping a storage device or complete system. BuyMyTEK cannot guarantee the recovery or preservation of data after processing begins.

Question 12

Can I send multiple items in one shipment?

Accepted Answer

Multiple items may be shipped together when the trade-in and packaging recommendation allow it. Protect every item from movement and contact with other components, use adequate padding, and confirm the completed package’s actual outside dimensions before shipment.

Question 13

What if my hardware does not receive an instant offer?

Accepted Answer

Hardware that is not eligible for instant pricing may still qualify for manual review. Laptops, desktops, business equipment, uncommon configurations, and mixed hardware lots can be submitted with accurate specifications and photographs for evaluation.

Question 14

Does BuyMyTEK have a storefront I can visit?

Accepted Answer

BuyMyTEK does not currently operate a retail storefront that is open to the public. Our facility is designed for receiving, securing, inspecting, and processing submitted equipment rather than accommodating walk-in customers. To protect seller property, business inventory, and data-bearing devices, access to processing areas is restricted. Trade-ins and support are handled through our website. If you have questions or concerns, you can email us directly; telephone support is available only through contact information BuyMyTEK provides for a specific request.
