1. Scope
This policy applies to personal information handled through BuyMyTEK's United States website and services. It does not govern independent third-party websites or services that publish their own privacy policies.
2. Information We Collect
Contact and identity information
- Name, email address, telephone number, shipping-from address, and business or organization name.
- Seller ID, trade-in number, review number, and information needed to verify secure seller access.
Trade-in and shipping information
- Hardware category, model, manufacturer, specifications, identifiers when required, condition, functionality, photographs, inventory files, accessories, and packaging.
- Package measurements, carrier and tracking information, label status, delivery and inspection events.
- Quote, inspection, adjusted-offer, final-offer, messaging, and support records.
Payout information
BuyMyTEK currently records a seller's payout preference and payment status but does not collect bank-account or routing information during the quote process. Selecting a payout preference does not issue a payment.
Account, communications, and technical information
- Email-verification status, security-check results, Seller Hub access events, session and authentication information, and accepted agreements.
- Seller Hub messages, emails, Business IT inquiries, support requests, complaints, dispute notices, and voluntary feedback.
- IP address, browser and device type, operating system, request timestamps, security and error logs, and cookie or browser-storage information.
3. Location ZIP Searches
The recycling finder keeps an entered ZIP code in browser state for the active experience and does not attach it to a trade-in. For an eligible shipping-label drop-off finder, the browser integration uses the confirmed shipping ZIP already associated with that trade-in; alternate ZIP searches remain temporary and are not saved. Google Maps or Places receives only the ZIP and carrier or recycling search terms needed for the location search, not the seller's name, email, street address, trade-in number, or tracking number. Google may process search information under Google's own terms and privacy policy.
4. Cloudflare Turnstile
BuyMyTEK may use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish legitimate activity from automated abuse. Cloudflare may receive technical and security information needed to operate that service. Passing Turnstile does not automatically request or send a verification code; that request occurs only after the user explicitly selects the corresponding action.
5. How We Use Information
- Provide quotes, manual reviews, Business IT review, and Seller Hub access.
- Create and manage trade-ins, shipping, inspections, adjusted offers, messages, payout preferences, and payment records.
- Prevent fraud and unauthorized access, protect users and providers, enforce agreements, and resolve disputes.
- Debug, secure, maintain, and improve the website and comply with legal obligations.
6. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information as reasonably necessary to providers supporting Render hosting, PostgreSQL databases, Cloudflare R2-compatible private storage, Resend transactional email, Shippo shipping, Cloudflare Turnstile, and Google Maps or Places location searches. Provider availability and configuration may change.
- At your direction or with your consent.
- To investigate theft, fraud, ownership disputes, abuse, or safety concerns.
- To comply with lawful requests or protect legal rights and safety.
- To professional legal, accounting, insurance, or compliance advisers.
- In a financing, merger, acquisition, restructuring, bankruptcy, or sale of business assets, subject to applicable law.
7. Sale and Behavioral Advertising
The current application does not include an advertising or behavioral-analytics SDK. BuyMyTEK does not sell personal information for monetary consideration, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or share it for that purpose. If those practices materially change, this policy and any legally required controls must be updated before that use begins.
9. Data From Submitted Equipment
Sellers are responsible for backing up and erasing personal data, signing out, and removing activation or management locks before shipping. BuyMyTEK does not provide data-recovery or preservation services and does not provide certified destruction unless separately agreed in writing. If accessible personal information is discovered during inspection, access should be limited to what is reasonably necessary to identify, secure, sanitize, return, or process the device.
10. Data Retention
BuyMyTEK retains information as reasonably necessary to complete trade-ins, provide Seller Hub history and support, maintain transaction and accounting records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, insurance, security, and operational requirements. Retention varies by record type; no single fixed period is implemented or published for all records.
11. Data Security
BuyMyTEK uses safeguards including authorization checks, scoped secure links, encrypted seller tokens, private object storage, and limited administrative access. No online system, storage method, or transmission is completely secure. Users should protect verification codes, secure links, email accounts, and devices used to access Seller Hub.
12. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy; appeal an eligible denied request; withdraw consent where processing depends on consent; or exercise applicable sale, sharing, profiling, or targeted-advertising rights without unlawful discrimination. Requests may be submitted to admin@buymytek.com. We may verify identity and apply lawful transaction, security, fraud-prevention, and recordkeeping exceptions.
13. Children
BuyMyTEK's services are not intended for anyone under 18, and BuyMyTEK does not knowingly accept trade-ins from minors. If we learn that a minor submitted personal information without appropriate authorization, we may delete or restrict it as required by law.
14. United States Operations
BuyMyTEK currently offers trade-in services within the United States. Information is processed in the United States and may be handled by service providers operating in other locations subject to applicable safeguards.
15. External Links
The website may link to carriers, recycling facilities, maps, marketplaces, or other independent third parties. BuyMyTEK is not responsible for an independent third party's privacy practices; review the applicable third-party policy.
16. Business Transfers
If BuyMyTEK is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, or transfer of business assets, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
17. Changes to This Policy
BuyMyTEK may update this policy to reflect changes in services, providers, legal obligations, or data practices. The effective date and version will identify the current policy, and material changes will be communicated when required by law.
